Idolatry Bullshit

I don’t watch Idol often, its quite crap and even if I want to watch it to judge the songs for myself, I will always end up wanting to stab Mark Holden in the eye whilst shouting “Touchdown This BITCH!” after he gives out one of his increasingly meaningless touchdowns to another less than compelling performance.

This quote from Bland Canyon sums up what I think of people who want to be on Idol.

On to Chris Murphy. He’s rocking out with a bit of Stevie Wright’s Evie, which most of tonight’s audience will think was written by Jet. Not Murphy though, who reveals he’s actually 30 - what the hell? Did anyone else think he was about 26, or is that just me? He goes on to say that Idol is “the one chance to get the music career I’ve always wanted” - what, releasing one crap album and then being forced to tour the country with four chicks who are more talented than you are?”

Go the whole hog

If youre going to go the effort of getting proper leather to create a wallet, please that little bit of extra time making sure that your stitching is top quality. It’s not much to ask I don’t think, i’ve had shit fake leather wallets that have lasted longer than my current wallet purchased for me (quite expensively) by my sister and currently falling apart at the seams.

LEATHER WALLETS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD QUALITY!

Elected by the people

Politicians are elected by the people for the people, or at least that is the theory behind our voting system.

This is a quote from The Worst Australian:

“Mr Giffard said while he appreciated his constituents probably did favour daylight saving, he was opposed to it and would probably vote no. “I’m unconvinced of the need for it,” he said.

“But it’s true people generally do favour it in my neck of the woods and that’s a consideration for me.”

Stupid Mother F*cker, no one gives a shit if you are unconvinced, it’s not your job to think, it’s your job to listen to your constituency. How condescending can one person be, “I appreciate”, well isn’t that a great attitude to have? Thanks for electing me as your representative, I appreciate your views that I am supposed to go it alone but I think I’ll follow my own personal preferences.

Mr Giffard, I hope you burn in hell!

Extremist movie reviews

I’m a staunch supporter of movie ratings (not banning movies mind you, unless such as in the case of Baise Moi of which I am 1 of 50000 people in Australia to see it, it’s just a downright crap movie), there are certain things you shouldn’t see till your ready to understand the implications of it. At the same time I think that parents should do more to prepare their kids for what they will see in movies which are many concepts they will encounter in the real world. These two things go hand in hand, regulation and education, a very simple concept.

If you are an extremist christian, who wants to shelter their kids from anything that is bad and make them see life through rose tinted glasses then you could go to this site that has provided me much entertainment over the last few days. It’s a movie review site with a christian skew.

http://capalert.com/capreports/

Take for example this review of the seemingly happy family movie “About a boy”, apparently not according to this site which gave it a -100 score (based on anything bad in the movie) pretty much the lowest you could get and definitely a movie that would corrupt your kids.

My favourite -ve scoring issues they have with the movie include:
punk dress
drinking, repeatedly
smoking, repeatedly
man in tub
sex advice to a child (is this the same About a boy that I watched?)
anatomical reference (one may have a penis but one is not permitted to refer to it by any name)
child yelling at mother (cos I never did that as a child)

It’s as preposterous to pick up on most of these things as it is highly amusing, i suggest you look it up yourself, South Park in particular got a very poor reaction.

The Worst Australian

The West Australian news paper is the king of sensationalisation, they could make snail racing sound scandalous if they really tried. It’s something to be proud of, that is it would be something to be proud of if you worked for The Sun in the UK or the National Enquirer in the US, newspapers with a reputation for out their, bordering on libellous articles. The West Australian is the one and only newspaper in Perth and is arguably the main reason why Perth people can be so backwards and conservatives.

Kerry Stokes and Channel 7 bought a share of The West last week bring a ray of hope that the Newspaper would embrace some form of impartiality, that is until one realises that Channel 7 is the same station the peddles the trashiest of tv shows, Today Tonight.

*Sigh*

Nonetheless, the west latest trick is a good one, take an interesting column with the potential to be sensational with a little re-writing to make it look like the original author was saying more than he was. Add a sensational headline and some pictures and you’ve got your back page sports article by some writer that extensively quotes the Dennis Lillee column 3 pages in. That my friends is sensational!

I cannot believe the gall of some people, thats not news, thats just lazy journalism. It’s not even the first time theyve done it, starved for news during the football season they re-hashed a Robert Walls column about how bad fremantle was, they took a peice about one mans opinions about the dockers and tried to turn it into a factual article.

The back page of the west australian quoted, of all things, a column within… wait for it….. its own paper. Thats right, if you Read the back page of the paper which extensively quotes Dennis Lillee’s column in the same paper, you can then turn two pages in and read the actual column it quotes. How handy, i’m sure they are thinking about us when they do that, just in case we didnt get it the first time we can have a read again.

The thing is, its not the first time they’ve done this exact thing.

Acceptable use of Mobile Phones

I’m sure this won’t be the last time I write something about a newly marketed idea for mobile phones that is a waste of time and money. It’s understandable that mobile phone companies and makers latch onto new ideas that will sell their mobile phones, I’m sure that the ability to download the latest crazy frog ringtone is a big marketing tool in the market for selling phones. The ability to send and receive videos affected even me, I love being able to send the latest video of a friend doing something stupid and drunken to all his/her mates. Today however I went to the foxtel site to check up on the latest available packages and found that foxtel and telstra have teamed up to bring you Foxtel by Phone. I kid you not, you can now log into your foxtel from your mobile phone. For a mere $12 a month you’ll never have to leave the TV not even when you’re trying to get out of the house. Forget about screen sizes making the ability to pick out details almost impossible or that you won’t be able to drive and watch at the same time, that phone batteries get chewed up quite quickly by displaying videos nor the fact that at the best of times there is very little to watch on foxtel, who needs to worry about those things when you can bask in the warm glow of television right from your mobile phone. Common sense people, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, keep whats left of your life away from the television intact.
